Joshua Ramsey, 25, of Bowie, has been charged with two counts of possession with the intent to distribute child pornography and three counts of possession of child pornography following an investigation by the Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The arrest was announced on Thursday, Oct. 27.
Beginning in July, the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit launched an investigation into the distribution and possession of child porn over the Internet, according to officials.
On Thursday, troopers, assisted by Homeland Security Investigations and the Prince George’s County Police Department, served a search warrant at Ramsey’s home, where they recovered electronic devices that were littered with child pornography files, police said.
It is the latest in a string of child porn busts by Maryland State Police in Prince George's County, including a Fort Washington teen who was arrested earlier this week on similar charges.
Ramsey was transported to the Prince George’s County Detention Center, where he is being held pending an initial appearance in front of a District Court Commissioner.
